Caitlin Clark has shown her support for her successor at the Iowa Hawkeyes, Lucy Olsen.
Clark, who holds numerous records in Hawkeyes colors and is the all-time leading scorer in both men’s and women’s college basketball, moved to the Indiana Fever last season after finishing her college career.
This paved the way for Pennsylvania-born Olsen to switch from the Villanova Wildcats to the Hawkeyes. Olsen’s debut game, a 91-73 win over the Northern Illinois Huskies, has drawn comparisons to Clark with many claiming she is the next big thing.

With 17 points, four rebounds, and seven assists in her first game, Olsen revealed that Clark is fully supporting her this season – adding that she understands what it takes to be a big game player.
Speaking to Haley Jones on her podcast, Sometimes I Hoop, the 21-year-old said: “I’ve talked to Caitlin [Clark] a little bit. She’s very nice. She’s like ‘let me know if you need anything. I’m always here. I went through a lot and I got you.'”

This admission shows that the Fever star is not just a powerhouse on the court, but also a supportive mentor behind the scenes. With an impressive junior season behind her, where she was ranked third after Clark and USC’s JuJu Watkins, Olsen is poised for a big senior year with the Hawkeyes.
Besides her scoring prowess, Olsen has notched up the title of 2024 Big East Most Improved Player and snagged All-Big East Team honors in both 2023 and 2024, as well as being named 2021 Miss Pennsylvania Basketball.
Although a college championship eludes her – as it does Clark – fans can’t wait to see if this could finally be Olsen’s year for the Hawkeyes.
